In Memory of Valda Embiricos
It is with a heavy heart we say farewell to Valda Embiricos, an amazing lady who has supported the Trust and its aims since Bob and Aldaniti's fairytale win in 1981. The Trust would not have achieved all it has without the dedication, belief and support from Nick and Valda Embiricos and since Nick's death in 2018 Valda has continued to support us with the same energy, enthusiasm, generosity and kindness - she will be greatly missed by so many.

"I was privileged to have ridden for Nick and Valda through the years, through great times and sad. Absolutely wonderful person to ride for and her continued support for the Trust, and for racing, is very special to me indeed, she'll be greatly missed."
Bob Champion CBE
"We will all miss Valda so much. She was a very special lady who achieved plenty in her life. Her insistence on taking the stricken Aldaniti home all those years ago to nurse him back to health, after the vet had suggested he was finished, started a series of events which produced miraculous outcomes, winning the Grand National of course and then the creation of the Bob Champion Cancer Trust. There is no doubt that Valda's skills as a horsewoman were instrumental in getting Aldaniti to race again. "
"She kept an eye on all of us at the Trust and was a huge supporter. We were always conscious of doing all we could to keep it relevant and successful. It was important to Valda and important for us. That will of course continue, in lasting tribute to her."
Mike Cattermole, Chairman of the Trust
